About the Company

Metal Technologies
Metal Technologies was established in 1997 when Chairman and CEO Rick James and President Keith Turner formed Milwaukee Gray Iron, L.L.C., now called West Allis Gray Iron, in West Allis, Wisconsin to acquire a former Briggs & Stratton gray iron foundry.

They immediately invested in the facilities and increased sales, productivity and quality- the hallmarks by which Metal Technologies is now known. Together, James and Turner believed that they could combine their experience and talents to build a better metal casting company that is centered on customer needs and the personal growth and success of its employees.

With the successful launch of Milwaukee Gray Iron L.L.C., the entrepreneurs set out on their mission to grow to the critical mass required to attract the attention of major world-wide metal casting customers. In February 1999, MTI acquired Dock Foundry, now called Three Rivers Gray Iron of Three Rivers, Michigan.

One of Metal Technologies Inc.'s major customers remains Briggs & Stratton Corporation. That company's leadership was impressed by the successful transfer of Milwaukee Gray Iron, L.L.C. to James and Turner's management and approached them about acquiring Briggs & Stratton's remaining two foundries. MTI saw this as an opportunity to expand its capabilities into ductile iron and the sale was completed in August 1999 with the formation of Ravenna Casting Center, Inc., now called Ravenna Ductile Iron and Milwaukee Ductile Iron, Inc., now called West Allis Ductile Iron

In June, 2001, Metal Technologies took another step toward its strategic goal of becoming a worldwide metal-casting solutions provider with its acquisition of Eureka Foundry Corporation in Woodstock, Ontario. The Canadian facility was renamed Woodstock Gray Iron and supplied gray iron castings to the automotive industry.

In March, 2004, Metal Technologies took a further step toward become a global supplier to its customers wherever they need metal castings by forming a joint venture with international automotive supplier ZF Sachs A.G.. Metal Technologies also acquired an interest in Sachs Giesserei GmbH (SGG), an iron and aluminum foundry in Kitzingen, Germany. MTI acquired 100% of SGG in July 2005 which has been renamed Kitzingen. The agreement adds the capability to produce aluminum castings to Metal Technologies' product lines and represents MTI's first step into the fastest growing part of our industry.

In June 2005 Metal Technologies purchased former Auburn Foundry Plant 2 which is located in Auburn, Indiana. The facility has been renamed Auburn Casting Center, and supplies gray iron castings to the automotive and medium/heavy truck industries.

In December 2005, Metal Technologies closed the Woodstock Ontario foundry to consolidate operations and balance capacity with the new Auburn acquisition.
